Swedish Match is seeking to strengthen its Group Business Control team by employing a Sustainability Business Controller. As this is a new position, focus will initially be on the establishment of a new reporting structure for our sustainability focus areas. As a Sustainability Business Controller, you will be part of a high performing team, working with strategic, operational, and financial questions in a very successful consumer goods company. The sustainability strategy of Swedish Match emphasizes six focus areas – improve public health, ensure ethical business practices, support equal opportunity, reduce greenhouse gases, reduce waste and eliminate child labour. Swedish Match´s vision of “A world without cigarettes” is central to its sustainability strategy and how Swedish Match plans to contribute to making the world a better place.

The Sustainability Business Controller will be responsible for managing the consolidation process for sustainability reporting at Swedish Match, including the periodic evaluation of sustainability KPI’s, the development of reporting formats and the implementation of associated reporting tools and systems. The aim of sustainability reporting at Swedish Match is to have a common and consistent reporting framework across all operating divisions that utilizes, to the full extent practical, existing Swedish Match information/reporting systems.

The position is permanent and located at the Group’s head office in Stockholm City

Key Responsibilities

You will be part of a high-performing team and you will have a wide variety of work tasks. Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Establish, implement and manage the reporting process for sustainability focus areas
  • Lead the consolidation effort for sustainability-related KPI´s, leveraging insight and best practices in the fast-moving consumer goods sector
  • Provide input to the Group Management Team on sustainability strategy setting and periodic assessment of sustainability-focus-area KPI´s
  • Working with the divisions, ensure a common and consistent approach to sustainability information capture, definitional framework and reporting across the Swedish Match Group
  • Perform detailed analytical reviews of Divisional-level sustainability reporting and provide feedback for improvement to the Divisions
  • Working with the Business Control Group and CFO, develop sustainability aspirations for the Divisions on an annual basis

You will report to Manager Group Business Control.

Your profile

You have a university degree in Business Administration or in Engineering. You have experience within the business control department of a company or relevant experience from a consultant firm. Most importantly, you have experience in working in the area sustainability and in helping to create an environment where corporate sustainability priorities are operationized in an organization. You are fluent in English and Swedish and have a high degree of literacy in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.

Personal skills

You are a high performing individual with a strong interest in business performance analysis. You have strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to structure and prioritize your daily work. You display a high degree of creativity and self-initiative in developing and continually challenging the process used to capture and report sustainability KPI’s. This position includes many contact points across the Group; therefore, it is important that you are capable of communicating complex information and that you are comfortable having daily contact with colleagues throughout the organization.
